Cape Town, South Africa 19 to 20 April 2024 -Upcycle, a pioneering exhibition, aims to showcase how design can embrace circularity to shape conscious workspaces. Presented by leading global property development company JLL and its subsidiary, interior design firm Tétris Design and Build, this provocative exhibition promises to spark conversations about sustainability and regeneration.

“We see a brighter way forward for our clients, our people, our planet, and our communities… we’re unveiling opportunities that create a brighter future for all,” stated JLL.

Tétris, renowned for creating inspirational and sustainable commercial environments, is deeply committed to defining tomorrow’s workspaces in our ever-evolving society. Recognizing the mounting tide of discarded office equipment and furniture resulting from the agile reconfiguration of workspaces post-Covid, Tétris emphasizes the critical role designers and artists play in imagining new possibilities.

Upcycle seeks to highlight sustainability and regenerative design through unbounded creativity. A select group of designers and artists, including members of Tétris’s local and international teams, will breathe bold new life into discarded office equipment and furniture pieces, creating thought-provoking installations that capture attention and prompt reflection.

Participants in the exhibition include Congolese artist Patrick Bongoy, sisters Viveka and Rucita Vassen of Ananta Design Studio, Nisha and Justus van der Hoven of Hoven Design, Laurie Wiid of Wiid Design, Amaury Watine, Creativity and Innovation Director at Tétris EMEA, Adrian Davidson, Design Director at Tétris EMEA, as well as Senior Interior Designers from Tétris South Africa, Helen Wentzel and Tshepiso Lesufi.

The exhibition will be open to the public at Makers Landing at V&A Waterfront on April 19 and 20, 2024. Design students are invited for a special student-focused day on Friday, April 19, and a free curated walkabout with the artists and designers will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 11:00 am.
