Recently, I had the opportunity to stay at The Palace Hotel in Sun City. It’s important to note that I have never been to Sun City and quite honestly never really grasped the fascination of traveling over 2 hours just to witness some waves, so it’s safe to say I approached the trip with a healthy dose of scepticism. However, this experience was nothing short of amazing.

Nestled amidst breath-taking landscapes, the Palace drips opulence and beauty. From the life-like statue that depicts what seems to be cheater in pursuit of kudu, to the intricately painted ceilings and mosaic artwork that are a wonder to see and not forgetting the smiling face of the gentleman that greets you by the door, The Palace sets the tone for perfection and unwavering attention to detail orientation.

To celebrate their momentous 30th anniversary, The Palace embarked on a remarkable suite refurbishment. The pinnacle of luxury is the African Suite. This breath-taking suite has hosted illustrious guests such as the legendary Michael Jackson. It boasts two exquisite bedrooms, a butler at your service, luxurious amenities including a sonar, and a private balcony complete with a jacuzzi, it truly represents the crème de la crème of luxury accommodations.

If the African Suite slightly exceeds your desired budget, fear not, as The Palace offers an array of exquisitely decorated rooms to suit every preference. Each room is thoughtfully adorned with meticulous attention to detail. I especially loved how housekeeping left a little chocolate surprise with every visit, adding an extra touch of delight to your stay.

During my stay l enjoyed an array of fun activities ranging from the thrill of Quad biking which offered an adventure-packed experience, the exhilarating release of the Zipline, a must-do-activity.  You soar through the air at mind-boggling speeds of over 120km/h, covering a distance of 2km. This is one of the longest ziplines in the world and absolutely great fun. The Archery, Game drive, who can pass up a chance to see the great 5 in their element and Segway were also great fun which added an extra layer of enjoyment to my stay.  After all this activity be sure to book at the Royal Spa, providing a quiet tranquil oasis for one’s enjoyment and relaxation and should you get the opportunity, request for Wilhelmina, a true maestro in unravelling knots and soothing tensions

Now to the food, The Palace offers a buffet selection like none that l have experienced. There is nothing that is not on offer and most importantly the food is fresh and tastes divine.  We were treated to the culinary skills of Head Chef, Wesli Jacobs.  He treated us to a mouth-watering 3-course meal with the highlight being a sensational dish called the South African Trio. This dish consists of 3 small yet authentically South African meals, each deserving its own space on the menu paired with a selection of choice wines. What a culinary feast served with genuine passion.

Now to my scepticism of why one should make the long drive to The Palace, Sun City as beautiful as it is. It’s simple, The Palace, Sun City offers an unparalleled experience. The combination of sumptuous comfort, exceptional service, top-notch amenities, culinary delights, and meticulous attention to detail creates an environment that indulges the senses and creates memories that last a lifetime. It is an invitation to immerse yourself in a world of luxury, where every moment is crafted to exceed your expectations and provide an extraordinary journey of indulgence and relaxation. Most importantly, you deserve it.
