"Africa in Full Colour" takes centre stage at South Africa’s most exclusive polo event
South Africa’s luxury landscape shifted this past weekend as Glenfiddich and celebrated designer Mzukisi Mbane redefined modern prestige at the 2026 Nedbank International Polo.
Under the bold theme Africa in Full Colour, the iconic event evolved beyond tradition to become a vibrant cultural showcase celebrating African fashion, craftsmanship, identity and elevated curated experiences.
Held as one of South Africa’s most exclusive social calendar moments, this year’s polo event proved that luxury is no longer defined by convention. Instead, it is being shaped by culture, creativity and meaningful expression.
Mzukisi Mbane brings African luxury fashion to the forefront
At the heart of the event was Mzukisi Mbane, founder of Imprint ZA, who partnered with Glenfiddich to shape the visual identity and cultural energy of the experience through a proudly African lens.
Known for seamlessly blending heritage influences with contemporary streetwear culture, Mbane’s work represents a new era of African luxury that is authentic, globally relevant and deeply rooted in storytelling.
“Craftsmanship is about intention,” said Mbane. “Whether it’s fashion or whisky, people connect with things that carry meaning, detail and authenticity. That’s what makes African creativity so powerful right now because it is rooted in culture while confidently shaping global luxury conversations.”
Glenfiddich creates one of the most talked-about luxury whisky experiences
Guests were immersed in an exclusive Glenfiddich journey designed around craftsmanship, rarity and celebration.
From Aston Martin-inspired arrival moments featuring Glenfiddich’s 16-Year-Old expression to intimate guided tastings of the prestigious Grand Series 21, 23 and 26-Year-Old whiskies, paired with curated chocolates, the experience quickly became one of the standout highlights of the day.
The fusion of fashion, whisky and social prestige reflected a wider cultural shift in how luxury is being experienced across South Africa.
How modern luxury is being redefined in South Africa
According to Gabi Sinclair, Senior Brand Manager for Glenfiddich, luxury today is less about ownership and more about emotional connection.
“We’re seeing a shift in how luxury is being defined,” said Sinclair. “It is no longer simply about what you have, but about how you experience it – the moments, the craftsmanship and the meaning behind it.”
She explained that Glenfiddich intentionally designed the activation to create deeper engagement with artistry and heritage. “Through meaningful celebration, deeper engagement with craftsmanship and access to rare curated experiences over scale, we are creating environments where people can truly connect with the craft.”
African creativity is shaping the future of global luxury
This year’s Nedbank International Polo highlighted the growing global influence of African design and cultural expression.
“If luxury was once about fitting in, it is now about standing out with intention,” Sinclair added. “This year’s polo showed that African fashion, creativity and identity are not only part of the global luxury conversation, but are actively shaping where it goes next.”
With Africa in Full Colour, Glenfiddich and Mzukisi Mbane delivered more than a luxury activation. They presented a vision of the future – one where African craftsmanship, creativity and culture define what prestige looks like on the global stage.
