The view from the Lacuna Bar out over the pool area into the lush gardens of the Maslow Hotel has a gravitational pull. Its what I would call a most inviting space.

Frequented by the business guests of the hotel and the more informed local community, the patrons are sophisticated and as such require a sophisticated food and beverage offering.  Enter UMAI.

UMAI’s menu includes items like Alaskan Crab California Roles, Salmon Roe and all the usual dishes, deliciously fresh and beautifully presented.

The fact that you can settle down into one of the loungy nooks, order a cold bottle of bubbles and slowly savor some of Joburg’s best sushi, all within a resort like setting, is the reason why it makes our top 3 sushi experiences the city has to offer. We recommend for many other reasons in including mental wellness, to rather come and sit here than in traffic. Book in advance though.
