“A must-read for anyone who loves Kruger and adventure.” – Tony Park

About the Book

Walking Wild is not your typical safari. There are no game drives, no luxury lodges, and definitely no fences — just 605 kilometers of raw wilderness, dust, and unforgettable moments.

An unlikely group of strangers embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime journey: walking the entire length of Kruger National Park, from Crooks’ Corner in the far north to Malelane in the south. Over six stages and three years, they average 20 km a day with only heavy backpacks and the wild for company.

Led by two armed guides, they face blistering heat, violent storms, and unforgettable nights where hyenas sniff tents and lionesses stroll through camp.

From drinking from murky riverbeds to navigating hippo- and crocodile-infested waters, this is a story of grit, camaraderie, and deep immersion in nature. Walking Wild teaches you to read the bush – from antlions underfoot to distant roars in the dark.

This is a testament to resilience and the raw magic of Africa, offering a new lens on Kruger that no game vehicle can match.
