The Durbanville Wine Valley celebrates the fifth release of its award-worthy collaborative wine, reinforcing its status as the home of South Africa’s “Super Sauvignon Blanc”
The Durbanville Wine Valley reached a significant milestone in May 2026 as it celebrated the fifth consecutive release of its acclaimed COLAB Sauvignon Blanc, a project that has become a shining example of collaboration, innovation and regional excellence within South Africa’s wine industry.
Hosted during the annual Sauvignon Soirée, the unveiling of the 2026 vintage proved to be an overwhelming success. Wine enthusiasts, industry professionals and media gathered to experience the first public tasting of the highly anticipated wine, while also enjoying a carefully curated selection of aged Sauvignon Blancs that demonstrated the remarkable ageing potential of the variety.
What began in 2022 as an ambitious initiative to combine the finest fruit from across the Durbanville Wine Valley has evolved into one of South Africa’s most celebrated collaborative wine projects. Over five years, participating wineries have worked together to refine a distinctive style that consumers have come to recognise and trust, firmly establishing Durbanville as the home of South Africa’s “Super Sauvignon Blanc.”
The 2026 vintage brought together premium fruit from some of the region’s most respected producers, including Diemersdal, De Grendel, D’Aria, Durbanville Hills, Groot Phesantekraal, Klein Roosboom, Maastricht and Nitida. Under the guidance of winemaker Juandré Bruwer and veteran winemaker Charles Hopkins, the final blend once again showcased the exceptional quality and consistency that have become hallmarks of the project.
Beyond the wine itself, the success of the event highlighted something even more important for the region: unity.
