A New Chapter for Explora Journeys
Following successful technical and nautical testing in the Mediterranean, Explora III remains on schedule for its maiden Mediterranean Prelude Journey, departing on 24 July 2026.
The vessel represents more than just another ship launch. It marks the halfway point in Explora Journeys’ ambitious plan to build a six-ship fleet by 2028, reinforcing MSC Group’s long-term commitment to the ultra-luxury travel sector.
As the first LNG-powered vessel in the Explora fleet, Explora III also signals an important step towards more sustainable maritime operations. The ship has been designed with the flexibility to utilise renewable fuel alternatives such as bio-LNG and synthetic LNG, supporting the group’s broader environmental ambitions.

After arriving in Barcelona for her naming ceremony on 1 August 2026, the ship will embark on a seven-night maiden voyage to Lisbon before continuing a season of carefully curated journeys through Northern Europe.
Highlights include voyages through the Norwegian fjords, Iceland and Greenland, before crossing the Atlantic to explore New England and Canada’s East Coast during autumn.
Each itinerary has been designed to showcase the brand’s philosophy of slower, more immersive luxury travel.
