Born in Joburg is Johannesburg's newest addition to the food market scene. This food truck-focused market launches on Friday, 26 November (16:00 – 19:00) and Saturday, 27 November (10:00 – 15:00) at BlackBrick Club in Sandton…

The market aims to be a family-focused event targeting anybody and everyone, from young families to teenagers and adults. Market-goers can choose whether to attend on Friday evening and dine under the Sandton skyline or grab brunch at the Saturday morning trade. There will be a line-up of eight of Jozi’s most loved food trucks, live DJs, kiddies activities, E-scooter tours, a craft bar, and a secret rooftop experience.

The stellar line-up of food trucks will have you drooling and spoilt for choice, with street food by Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream, Tjips Co, Killer Coffee, Napz Autentica Pizza Napoletana, The Wing Republic, Lumamonate, and Wine Tap in attendance.

On the music front, there will be a curated line-up of local selectors such as Diddy Q, Bon Bon Vie and Housecatz to name a few.

Guests can also make use of the E-scooter tour experience with a discount on all scooter rides purchased on the market days, thanks to the Honest Travel Experience.

Tickets are available via Quicket and can be purchased at the entrance on Fredman Drive, Sandton at R30 per adult, while admission for kids under 12 years old is free.

Spotlight on some of the vendors:

  1. WineTap:
A Johannesburg-born company passionate about South African wine, preserving our planet and providing an alternative packaging option to the wine industry. After a visit to North America in 2017 and being introduced to kegged wine and its benefits (not only for us the consumers but for our environment too) they set out to establish a wine-on-tap movement in our motherland, South Africa.
  2. Pauls Homemade Ice Cream
“There was a time when no super-premium ice cream was produced in Joburg. Now, there’s Paul’s Homemade.”
  3. The Wing Republic:
Voted the restaurant with the Best Chicken Wings in Gauteng by Jacaranda FM listeners. The wing republic is a chicken wing specialist – serving grilled and buffalo-style wings.
