THE RISE OF BODY SKINCARE: WHY YOUR SHOWER ROUTINE IS THE NEW FRONTLINE FOR SKIN HEALTH

THE RISE OF BODY SKINCARE: WHY YOUR SHOWER ROUTINE IS THE NEW FRONTLINE FOR SKIN HEALTH

April 2026, South Africa – The skincare conversation is evolving. No longer limited to serums and routines reserved for the face, a new wave of conscious consumers is recognising that the skin on the body deserves the same level of care, intention, and ingredient integrity. Responding to this shift, Fundamentals Skincare announces the launch of two results-driven body washes designed to treat, not just cleanse, marking a new era in body care.

“As daily exposure to friction, shaving, environmental stressors, and dryness continues to impact skin health, concerns like uneven tone, body acne, and irritation are becoming increasingly common. Yet, body care has historically been overlooked or simplified. Skincare nowadays aims to change that, bringing clinically backed ingredients and skincare-first thinking into the shower,” explained Kamia Soobramoney, Customer Service Manager at Fundamentals Skincare.

The brand introduces two innovative body washes formulated with active ingredients typically reserved for facial care aimed at changing the way we perceive body care:

1.     Hydrating Body Wash: 2% Niacinamide + 2% Aloe Vera

A gentle yet effective daily body wash designed to hydrate, soothe, and visibly improve skin tone and texture. Formulated with 2% niacinamide (Vitamin B3), this body wash works to brighten dull areas, reduce the appearance of dark spots, refine texture, and strengthen the skin barrier. Paired with 2% pure aloe vera, it delivers immediate hydration while calming irritation and supporting sensitive or reactive skin.

The result is a multi-functional body wash that cleanses without stripping, leaving skin soft, balanced, and refreshed. This body wash is suitable for sensitive or irritated skin, dry or dehydrated skin, uneven tone and hyperpigmentation.

“With consistent use over 4–8 weeks, users can expect smoother texture, improved hydration, and a more even skin tone. Its lightweight, non-drying lather offers a spa-like experience, and it is vegan and fragrance-free,” added Soobramoney.

2.     Exfoliating Body Wash: 2% Salicylic Acid + 5% Gluconolactone + 1% Zinc PCA

A targeted solution for those struggling with body acne, congestion, and uneven texture. Powered by 2% salicylic acid, this formula penetrates deep into pores to dissolve excess oil and impurities, helping to reduce breakouts on the back, chest, and arms. Complementing this is 5% gluconolactone, a gentle PHA that exfoliates while maintaining hydration and offering antioxidant protection.

To complete the formula, 1% zinc PCA helps regulate oil production, reduce inflammation, and limit acne-causing bacteria promoting clearer, calmer skin over time. This body wash is suitable for body acne (bacne) and congestion, keratosis pilaris (“chicken skin”), oily or combination skin and rough, uneven texture.

“This exfoliating body wash delivers visible clarity without compromising the skin barrier, offering a non-drying, balanced cleanse suitable for regular use,” said Soobramoney.

“Consumers are becoming more ingredient-aware and results-driven and that mindset shouldn’t stop at the jawline. Our goal is to simplify body care while elevating it, making it as effective and thoughtful as facial skincare,” explained Soobramoney.

Both body washes are vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologist-tested, aligning with the brand’s commitment to accessible, science-led skincare.

The brand encourages consumers to rethink their daily shower not just as a routine step, but as an opportunity to actively treat and support skin health from head to toe. For enhanced results, the brand recommends following with their body moisturising range to lock in hydration and amplify benefits.
