Olympus Sandton Officially Breaks Ground
Growthpoint Properties and Tricolt marked the official groundbreaking of Olympus Sandton on Thursday, 26 February 2026, as the landmark development prepares to rise above the skyline at the highest point of the Sandton Summit precinct, overlooking South Africa’s cosmopolitan financial hub, Sandton Central.
The ceremony signalled the next chapter for a project that is already reshaping expectations for luxury urban living in Johannesburg’s most prestigious address.
A Hospitality-Led Mixed-Use Vision
Olympus will comprise 527 apartments across two sculptural towers, The Athena and The Apollo. Designed as a hospitality-led, mixed-use scheme, the development integrates high-end residences with curated lifestyle and leisure experiences.
Residents and visitors can expect a signature Marble Hospitality restaurant and sky bar, a boutique hotel offering, resort-style leisure facilities, landscaped sky gardens and a street-level Pantry by Marble deli and coffee shop — creating a vertically integrated lifestyle destination.
Strong Market Demand
The market response has been decisive. More than 85% of apartments have been sold since the project launched in February 2025, with sales exceeding R1.4 billion. The figures underscore sustained demand for residential buildings in walkable mixed-use precincts.
Olympus forms part of Growthpoint’s broader vision for Sandton Summit — shaping a quality urban precinct where people can live, work and connect within a single integrated environment.
Construction Progress Underway
With earthworks well advanced and piling scheduled to commence in mid-March 2026, Olympus is steadily transitioning from blueprint to built form. As construction progresses, the twin towers are set to become a defining symbol of fine living on the Sandton skyline.
Pictured at the ceremony were Tim Kloeck, Chairman of Tricolt, and Estienne de Klerk, SA CEO of Growthpoint Properties.
