At school, James Urdang was a troublemaking underachiever. Yet, despite being diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia at an early age, few could have imagined he’d go on to found Education Africa, an organisation that has helped educate thousands of young black South Africans.
James received mentorship from Walter Sisulu. He also gained the trust of Nelson Mandela and received support from Helen Suzman and Dr Aggrey Klaaste, who served as the former Editor-in-Chief of The Sowetan and became the organisation’s first chairman in 1992.
