The AJABU Cocktail & Spirits Festival returns to Johannesburg from 7–10 March, bringing with it a bold celebration of African cocktail culture, creativity and craftsmanship.

Derived from the Swahili word meaning miracle, amazing, wondrous or incredible, AJABU lives up to its name. This multi-day experience shines a spotlight on Africa’s vibrant bar scene while welcoming acclaimed international talent to collaborate, share knowledge and connect with the local industry.

What to Expect

Festival access is complimentary, with wristbands unlocking participating venues and events across the city. From guest shifts and industry pop-ups to masterclasses and panel discussions, AJABU offers an immersive programme designed for both trade professionals and cocktail enthusiasts.

Tasting Tables Experience

By popular demand, an intimate tasting experience takes place at Sin+Tax on Saturday, 7 March 2026, from 13:00–17:00.

Venue: Smoking Kills, 78a 4th Avenue, Melville, Johannesburg

This hands-on session features:

  • Masterclasses and tastings from 15 local and international brands
  • A cocktail line-up ranging from classics like the Margarita and Espresso Martini to crowd favourites such as the Pornstar Martini
  • Curated food pairings and a live DJ setting the tone

Tickets are R150 and include entry, all masterclasses, tastings and cocktails. This is the only paid event at AJABU 2026 — all other festival experiences are complimentary.
