Following the success of Wine Forty Four’s Women’s Edition in August 2024 and the Slow Edition in April, the popular wine event returns to 44 Stanley on Saturday, 20 September 2025, with The Spring Edition.

This edition focuses on newness — fresh vintages, innovative styles, and winemakers exploring new directions. Expect skin-contact whites, minimal intervention reds, and seasonal interpretations of familiar varieties — wines that challenge convention while staying true to their origin.

Curated in partnership with Vinosity, The Spring Edition champions small-batch, thoughtful producers. Many of them operate outside the mainstream yet are helping define the future of South African wine.

Wine Forty Four Spring Edition Special Experiences at The Bioscope

This year’s programme includes two unique wine-and-film experiences at The Bioscope, 44 Stanley’s independent cinema:

  • Special Screening: Blind Ambition

The award-winning documentary follows four Zimbabwean sommeliers on their journey to the World Wine Blind Tasting Championships. The screening will be introduced by Tinashe Nyamudoka of Kumusha Wines, one of the film’s central figures, who will share personal reflections before the film.

  • Private Tasting with Lalela & New Dawn Wines

Hosted by Wade Sander (Lalela, Brunia) and Rüdger van Wyk (New Dawn Wine Company), this guided tasting and conversation will explore their wines, winemaking journeys, and perspectives on the industry.

Wade and Rüdger represent the new face of South African wine: both come from backgrounds where wine was not part of their world growing up, yet now lead a more diverse, inclusive, and innovative generation of winemakers.

This ticketed session is available for group bookings from 10 to 45 people. It includes a curated snack box, access to the full Wine Forty Four Spring Edition event, a special 44 Stanley tote bag, and two bottles of wine to take home.
