Moscow Fashion Week, taking place from 14–19 March in Moscow, concludes the global fashion season while spotlighting the key directions shaping today’s dynamic industry. Among the most compelling shifts is the growing global interest in emerging designers — a movement already visible across European fashion capitals and especially pronounced in Moscow.
Established Names Meet Rising Stars
Emerging labels are showcased alongside well-established brands, offering promising designers the opportunity to present their work while enriching contemporary fashion with fresh perspectives.
International media and guests at Moscow Fashion Week are paying close attention to standout names such as Viva Vox, recognised for its signature prints, bold tailoring experiments, and abundant use of leather and fur; Solangel, whose jumpsuits have been selected by Jennifer Lopez for her performances; and Julia Dalakian, a brand active in both European and American markets, with collections previously shown in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Milan and New York.
Fashion discoveries also emerge from new participants selected from more than a thousand applications submitted from Russia and abroad. With over 200 brands featured in the programme, the event underscores the creative strength and diversity of Russian fashion.
International Recognition and African Perspectives
The potential of Russian fashion has drawn praise from international industry leaders. Mahlet Teklemariam, Founder of Hub of Africa Fashion Week, noted:
“What impressed me most was the remarkable diversity among the designers. Each brand presented a distinct creative identity, yet the overall standard of craftsmanship and presentation was consistently strong. The collections were thoughtfully constructed, visually compelling, and clearly reflected a deep level of design maturity. There was a sense of confidence in the work, from tailoring to fabric choices, that made the showcases feel both elevated and intentional.”
Stephen Manzini, Founder and CEO of Soweto Fashion Week and the SA Fashion Association, highlighted parallels between Johannesburg and Moscow:
“I think both Johannesburg and Moscow share a strong sense of identity. Designers in both cities are driven by passion, they tell stories through fabric, culture, and emotion. There’s also this hunger to be seen, to redefine how the world perceives fashion from our regions. Moscow’s style feels powerful yet elegant; there’s confidence in how people present themselves.”
A Truly Global Runway
The Moscow runway continues to welcome international labels. Designers from across the African region, including South Africa and Ethiopia, frequently participate in Moscow Fashion Week. This season also sees brands from China, Spain, Turkey and other countries presenting collections, reinforcing the event’s growing global relevance.
Renowned Turkish designer Emre Erdemoğlu returns to Moscow Fashion Week this season, reflecting on the platform’s impact:
“Moscow Fashion Week provided an international platform to present my design philosophy and narrative-driven approach, allowing the brand to reach a wider audience beyond Turkey. This participation strengthened the brand’s visibility in global fashion circles and created new opportunities for collaborations and media coverage.”
Cross-Border Exchange and Expanding Markets
Russian designers are also increasingly looking outward. Exchange programmes between Moscow Fashion Week and international industry associations are playing a significant role in this expansion. Earlier this year, the brand Ermilov debuted at Hub of Africa Fashion Week in Ethiopia. In previous seasons, runway presentations by Russian labels have featured at major fashion events in South Africa, China, Spain, India and beyond.
This cross-cultural interaction enables designers — particularly those from developing regions — to draw inspiration from diverse influences while strengthening their global recognition.
