Hazendal Wine Estate is thrilled to announce the launch of its Artist Series | Limited Edition Prestige Brut Cap Classique 2017, with a label designed by acclaimed South African artist Athi-Patra Ruga. This exclusive release highlights Hazendal’s commitment to blending art and exceptional winemaking while supporting the growth of the arts in South Africa.

Under the curatorship of Khanyisile Mbongwa, the label art for this prestigious wine reflects the intriguing artistic narratives of Ruga, bringing a modern mythological interpretation to the traditional wine label. The artwork is not only an aesthetic enhancement but also a form of storytelling that speaks to generations and the future of the arts in the region.

The Prestige Brut is an exquisite blend of 62% Chardonnay and 38% Pinot Noir, aged for seven years on the lees and released with zero dosage. Limited to only 1500 bottles, this wine is housed in a hand-crafted African pine chest, symbolizing the refined and unique craft of South African winemaking and art.

Proceeds from the sale of this limited edition will partly benefit the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. In addition, Hazendal is dedicating remaining funds towards furthering South Africa’s cultural landscape by organizing the Hazendal Festival, an annual celebration that merges art, science, and cultural discourse.

For those interested in acquiring this collectible piece of art and history, orders can be placed starting May 12th, 2025. Interested parties can contact Prosper Gundura for more information or visit selected outlets like Norman Goodfellows.

The launch not only represents Hazendal’s dedication to wine and the arts but also emphasizes its role in fostering an evolving dialogue between land, art, and community.
