The three-part comedy series premieres globally on 30 October 2026, bringing a fresh dose of family drama, romance and humour to the streaming platform.

A Diwali Celebration Filled With Family Drama

At the centre of How To Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents is Mmabatho Nkomo, played by Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni, an ambitious perfectionist determined to make a good impression on her fiancé’s family.

Her easy-going fiancé, Varshen, played by Kyle Clark, believes the time has come for their families to meet. However, what should be a joyful introduction during Diwali weekend quickly becomes an unforgettable family showdown.

Varshen’s traditional Indian parents, Tarina (Jailoshini Naidoo) and Sharm (Koobeshan Naidoo), are preparing for the festivities when Mmabatho’s estranged parents unexpectedly arrive.

Her mother, Penelope (Sonia Mbele), and father, Mandla (Meshack Mavuso), bring their own complicated family history into an already tense situation.

Things take a dramatic turn when Mmabatho accidentally exposes her future father-in-law’s secret affair. With the Diwali celebrations approaching, she must somehow repair the damage and bring everyone together.

Unfortunately, her attempts to restore harmony only create more chaos.
