South Africa’s creator economy reaches a new milestone as the 2026 Content Creator Awards reveal this year’s nominees, introduce Samsung Galaxy as title sponsor and raise the bar for digital excellence

South Africa’s creator economy is entering a new era. The 2026 Content Creator Awards have officially announced this year’s nominees, while unveiling Samsung Galaxy as the new title sponsor in what marks the biggest evolution in the awards’ history.

Now in their fourth year, the Content Creator Awards have grown from a platform celebrating emerging digital talent into a national recognition programme for creators, brands and agencies shaping South Africa’s creator economy.

The 2026 awards will recognise creators across 20 categories, spanning entertainment, fashion, beauty, music, comedy, podcasts, automotive content, social media and more.

From Content Creators to Cultural Influencers

When the Content Creator Awards launched in 2022, content creation was still being established as a legitimate career path.

Four years later, the industry has transformed.

South Africa’s leading creators are building businesses, influencing consumer behaviour, driving cultural conversations and working with some of the country’s biggest brands.

“As the creator economy has evolved, so have the awards,” says Manuela Dias de Deus, Founder of the Content Creator Awards and Founder of One-eyed Jack. “When we launched these awards, we were celebrating brave pioneers who were proving that content creation could be a real career. Today we’re recognising world-class creators who are building businesses, influencing culture, driving commerce and setting global standards.”

She adds: “Our responsibility has shifted from legitimising the industry to raising the benchmark for excellence. This is no longer about recognising creators for what’s possible. It’s about celebrating those who are setting the standard for the future of marketing, entertainment and entrepreneurship in South Africa.”

2026 Content Creator Awards Introduce New Standards

The 2026 Content Creator Awards feature 20 categories, with each category refined to better reflect the rapidly changing creator landscape.

This year’s entry and judging criteria have also become more rigorous. The criteria were developed in collaboration with the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB South Africa) to promote greater consistency, credibility and industry alignment.

Samsung Galaxy Announced as Title Sponsor

Samsung Galaxy has officially joined the Content Creator Awards as title sponsor, reflecting the growing influence and commercial importance of South Africa’s creator economy.

“Creators are shaping culture, influencing purchasing decisions and redefining storytelling every single day,” says Rae Hargreaves, Head of Marketing: Mobile eXperience at Samsung South Africa. “Samsung Galaxy exists to give creators the technology they need to tell those stories, and we’re excited to celebrate the incredible talent driving South Africa’s creator economy.”

Furthermore, a new #CapturedWithGalaxy Award has also been introduced. The category gives creators one final opportunity to enter the 2026 awards.

Open to creators across all niches, the award celebrates exceptional content captured on any Samsung Galaxy device.

The winner will receive a Content Creator Award trophy, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 valued at approximately R40,999.

Entries for the #CapturedWithGalaxy Award close on 20 September 2026.
