Aviation Gin, the world’s highest rated gin and an icon of the American craft distilling movement is now available in SA.

Actor, writer, producer and global fan favourite, Ryan Reynolds has acquired an ownership interest in Aviation Gin after tasting it for the first time. Reynolds says, “Aviation is the best tasting gin in the world. Once I tried it, I knew I wanted to get involved with the company in a big way.”

Founded in Portland, Oregon and crafted in small batches by a unique bartender and distiller partnership, Aviation Gin is an innovative American gin with a unique botanical mix that results in a much smoother, easier drinking flavour than typical London Dry gins.

“If you think all gins taste the same, you’d be mistaken,” Reynolds, who enjoys drinking his Aviation gin on the rocks. “Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the brand.”

Reynolds will play an active role in the day-to-day business of the brand and oversee creative direction as part of his mission to introduce the world to the great taste of Aviation Gin.

Aviation Gin was launched in South Africa recently by Cape Town based Truman & Orange and is available nation-wide in high-quality liquor stores and retailers including Pick ’n Pay and Makro.

“Even before this announcement we were very excited to bring Aviation Gin to SA’s gin lovers. It is an amazing drink with a great story. The first ever collaboration between ex-bartender and a distiller, Aviation Gin pays tribute to those golden times in America when gin-based cocktails were extremely popular. It is undeniably smooth and amazingly mixable and we’re really excited about its prospects in SA”, says Rowan Liebbrandt, of Truman & Orange.

“Ryan’s being a part of such an iconic brand is very exciting – he wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin and I’m sure it’s going to be great working with such a legend over the next few years”

Aviation Gin has been created to be exceptionally smooth, so you can enjoy sipping it on the rocks or in a delicious cocktail; think the Amelia Earhart and Aviation Cocktail – one of the most popular drinks of the early 1900s, which was published in the last known cocktail recipe book before the Prohibition in 1917.

Truly America’s original craft gin, Aviation Gin combines a wide botanical medley of flavours, with Juniper in the background and citrus and floral flavors in the front. Softer, more subtle and balanced with a smooth and delicious finish, it can fly solo or take any mixed drink to new heights.
