| | | Twenty: South African Sculpture of the Last Two Decades | Twenty: South African Sculpture of the Last Two Decades is a unique exhibition that covers a wide spectrum of sculptural practice over the period. Work extends from highly contemporary pieces from the likes of Jane Alexander, Willem Boshoff and William Kentridge to the figurative work of the likes of Dylan Lewis, Angus Taylor and Egon Tanya. The exhibition also covers traditional work from greats such as Jackson Hlungwani and Samson Mudzunga as well as conceptual work from James Webb, Joachim Schonberg and Ed Young and of course ‘masters’ such as Edoardo Villa. About 40 artists are represented and 50 works will be shown. The show will open at CIRCA on Jellicoe on the 3rd of June 2010 and will run until the 9th of July 2010. | Black like Us Exhibiton | Black Like Us 7, the 7th annual Black Like US exhibition takes place from the 1st August until 5th September and includes artists Sam Maduna, Makiwa and Daniel Novela exhibiting together with other Black Like Us artists including Abe Mathabe, Chenjerai Kadzinga, Edward Selmatsela, Mind Shana, Fungai and Stanley Mawelela. | L’Atelier Art Competition | Now in its 25th year, Absa L’Atelier continues to recognise and reward the skills, talent and imagination that exist in an extremely competitive and often challenging environment as well as presenting a unique opportunity to artists to showcase their talent and embark on new and exciting opportunities. The winner will be announced at a gala exhibition in Johannesburg on 21 July 2010. The exhibition of the top 100 works will be on show to the public from the 22nd of July 2010 at Absa Gallery, Upper Ground Level, Absa Towers North, 161 Main Street.

| Little Artists Exhibition |
This is the first annual exhibition of the Little Artists, which is held in memory of the late Dulcie Robinson, who together with Edward Selemetsela, started teaching rehabilitated street children in Hillbrow in 1995. The objective was to develop the potential of these youngsters not only in art, but also for the little artists to recognise the many existing and exciting opportunities available to them through perseverance and tenacity. The Little Artists is a permanent residence/studio at the Barnato High School in Berea, Johannesburg. The exhibiton runs from 9 – 15 September 2010 at Manor Gallery, Norscot , Fourways.

| Zwelethu Mthethwa: ‘Is it our goal...? And other related issues’ | CIRCA on Jellicoe in association with iArt Gallery present an exhibition of Zwelethu Mthethwa’s latest works.This exhibition will showcase Mthethwa’s pastel works as well as display the artist’s mural-size photographs. Zwelethu was first recognized in the 1980s for his photography when he photographed the individual dwellings of informal settlements on the periphery of Cape Town. Zwelethu’s work looks at the economic and political realities of South Africa today. His fresh approach to photography comes from his use of colour and relationship between the photographer and photographed. A Fulbright scholar and former lecturer in photography, Mthethwa’s works have been included in major exhibitions at prestigious international galleries. Until 9th July. The gallery nurtures an environment where critical debates can take place around issues such as contemporary art practice.
